![]() So, in 2020, you cleared Aruba Immigration first, then grabbed your bags, then presented yourself and your medical docs right before exiting the airport. The first Aruba agent asked to see our test results, showed her one of the docs, and she pointed us to next stop. I had our passports organized with ED Cards and Covid test results for each passport. We sat in the front row, big seats on Spirit (I call it working guys first class) and had a great flight, a few drinks, and were first off the plane. I am sure he cost someone their vacation flight, glad ti wasnt us. I just read this morning that some old a-hole who was pissed about something, said he had a bomb and it caused all the chaos. We boarded on time, but took off about an hour late as we waited for a few people who evacuated and some bags. After a few minutes of chaos and questions, an announcement was made that those flying Spirit should stay at their gate. We slowly inched our way back toward our gate, saw the Spirit (I know, Spirit, UGGG, but schedule convenience) agent still at the desk, and decided to just relax and sit tight. ![]() ![]() We are in Terminal 4, but everyone is looking at each other not knowing what to do. Of course, there is just panic in the air, no communication from anyone as to what is going on, then an announcement, please evacuate Terminal 2. We grabbed our stuff (yes, I took my Bloody Mary with me) and calmly, but worriedly made our way down the terminal. What came second was a swarm of people, running down the terminal, along side an army of TSA agents telling people to GO GO GO. Bad combo.Īfter about an hour and 15 minutes to check in and work through security, we sat down at Fort Lauderdale International Airport with enough time to order a pre- flight Bloody Mary and mimosa. The crowds are large and the airlines and airports are short staffed. Those of you planning to travel this summer, especially international, need to give yourselves plenty of time to navigate through the airport check in process. While 2020 saw us navigate a set of unknowns, as we were some of the first to visit the island under there Covid Protocols, 2021's version of our summer pilgrimage to Aruba started with a very strange but perfectly normal site, a GINORMOUS crowd in the airport check in area, and absolute circus show trying to get bags dropped for the flight. For those who may be new to my family's Aruba travels, I hope you enjoy the ride. For those who followed our Aruba vacation last year, I will do my best to keep it fresh and interesting.
